| The annual Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) Week celebration is just around the corner! The celebration (May 21–27) is designed to promote the awareness of—and appreciation for—the critical work of biomedical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, imaging specialists, laboratory equipment specialists, and other members of the HTM field.
This year, in addition to hosting two complimentary online town halls, AAMI’s Technology Management Council (TMC) is launching a new challenge—called the AED Challenge—in conjunction with the celebration. See below for details!
AAMI’s AED Challenge
AAMI is challenging HTM professionals to tackle a shocking issue in their communities—automatic defibrillators, such as those found in the local mall or community center, may not work when they are needed most. Why? These life-critical devices need regular inspections and maintenance, but that doesn’t always happen, meaning batteries and pads may have expired. To help address this problem, the AAMI is encouraging HTM professionals to raise awareness of the importance of routine AED inspections in their communities. Free Online Town Halls
The TMC will host two virtual town hall meetings. The first session, scheduled for Wednesday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m. ET, will explore the information technology (IT) skills HTM professionals need to acquire to serve as a “bridge” between the two departments. The best ways of acquiring these skills also will be addressed. Click here to register.
The second town hall will be held Thursday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m. ET. It will cover frequently asked questions related to the management of wireless technologies in healthcare. Members of AAMI’s Wireless Strategy Task Force will provide their expertise and will respond to attendees’ questions. Click here to register.

AAMI is once again holding its annual contest to recognize the department or facility that best celebrates HTM Week. Simply let us know how your department or facility plans to celebrate, and you might win a $500 gift card. The winner will be announced during HTM Week.
