A modified excerpt from Chapter VI of
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
The Cat only grinned when it saw Alice. It looked good-natured, she thought: still it had very long claws and a great many teeth, so she felt that it ought to be treated with respect.
“Certified Cheshire Puss,” she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however, it only grinned a little wider. “Come, it’s pleased so far,” thought Alice, and she went on. “Would you tell me, please, which way OCEA ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—,“ said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“–so long as OCEA gets somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
Alice felt that this could not be denied, so she tried another question. “What sort of Biomeds live about here?”
“In that direction,” the Cat said, waving its right paw round, “lives a Biomed who wears Many Hats: and in that direction,” waving the other paw, “lives an October Meeting Hopping RSVPer. Visit either you like: they’re both mad.”
“But I don’t want to go among mad biomeds,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here and you wouldn’t be reading this email.”
Alice asked again, “Where do we go from here?”
“Do any of the Biomeds in Ohio care about this organization?”, asked the Cat.

Here Are The Meeting Program Details
1) Patrick K. Lynch, CBET, CCE, HIT Pro/PW, CPHIMS, Healthcare Technology Management Specialist will be presenting a special program on Information Technology (IT) Certification for Biomeds and HTM Professionals. As we all know, the CE and IT fields are becoming one and Pat will be discussing some of the details surrounding this combining and merging movement and presenting some resources that are available to assist Biomeds and HTM Professionals with obtaining their IT Certification.
2) In this segment of the meeting we will be discussing the Future Directions for OCEA Ohio Clinical Engineering Association. Your association has had it’s ups and downs over the last few years and it is time to determine where you want it to go and what you want it to be doing. Several of the Operations Committee Members are planning their retirement in 2012 and new thinkers and participants are needed to continue making OCEA a happening organization. We will be conducting some serious planning and talking about where this organization should be headed. A part of this process includes reviewing the answers to the 2012 Survey that is now being conducted. Your participation in this important survey is requested.
